Our Association was started in 1953, and Harold Geisler, from Antioch Temple, in Dayton, Ohio served as our President for three years. Our records show that his years of service were 1953-1954, 1954-1955, and 1955-1956. S. John Mack, from Moslem Temple, followed him from 1956-1957. Robert Lee Clark, from Mahi Temple, was next as he served from 1957-1958. Next was Steve Eiberger, from Medinah, who served in 1958-1959. Frank T. Butler, from Zamora was next and he served from 1959-1960. These officers, and others coming up the line were from around North America for a great cross section of participation and leadership. I do not have much more information on those early years to share with you at this time.
If any of you from around North America have any specific information on the history of our Association, please forward that information to me so I can direct that specific knowledge to make our history book more complete. During our history, we have had officers from a great cross section of North America, from Florida to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to Massachusetts, to Texas and many places in between.
For those formative years, the secretary/treasurer was generally the new man on the bottom of the line. Later, the president appointed the Secretary/Treasurer. Wayne F. Bray, Past President, who served from 1986-1987, from El Mina Temple was our first Executive Secretary. In 1996, incoming President, Stan Horn, from Arabia Temple, appointed Jack T. Knight, from Sharon Temple as the new Executive Secretary. Our by-laws were amended to have the Secretary/Treasurer elected for a three year term, and Jack T. Knight was elected. Jack served from 1996-2007, when he tendered his resignation and John Anderson, from Al Menah, was elected to serve as our second elected Secretary/Treasurer
I want to take this opportunity to personally thank all the Nobles, Ladies and families who have supported our organization throughout the years to help make our organization one to be very proud of. As our new officers continue leading and serving, please help them, as you have helped us, to succeed as we all dedicate our labor.
As our motto states, "WE RIDE FOR THE BENEFIT OF CHILDREN" and we have certainly done that.
Your Friend in the Faith,
Jack T. Knight
Past Secretary/Treasurer, IASMC

Trivia and the Pyramids
Although hypotheses put forward by Robert Bauval are by nature universally regarded by mainstream archaeologists [1] and Egyptologists as a form of pseudoscience, Robert Bauval and Adrian Gilbert (1994) proposed that the three main pyramids at Giza form a pattern on the ground that is virtually identical to that of the three belt stars of the Orion constellation. Using computer software, they wound back the Earth's skies to ancient times, and witnessed a 'locking-in' of the mirror image between the pyramids and the stars at the same time as Orion reached a turning point at the bottom of its precessional shift up and down the meridian. This conjunction, they claimed, was exact, and it occurred precisely at the date 10,450 BC. And they claim that Orion is "West" of the Milky Way, in proportion to Giza and the Nile.[2] Also, in 1993, Rudolph Ganten brink, sent his robotic device titled 'Uphaut 2' which means 'opener of the ways' into the northern shaft of the Queen's Chamber in the Great Pyramid at Giza. There they discovered a secret chamber that hasn't been opened in about 4,500 years which is discussed in Bauval's and Gilbert's book "The Orion Mystery". Also discussed in this 1994 book are the tools that the Dixon brothers found when the Great Pyramid was opened in the 1870s. These tools that were found may verify that the Bronze Age and Iron Age in Egypt had actually begun centuries before anyone thought. In 2002, Egyptologist Zahi Hawass used a robot to go past that secret chamber. There he found another stone block, which is possibly a door. This event was broadcasted live on the National Geographic Channel in April 2003 and discussed in an article titled "Ancient Egyptian Chambers Explored" written by Nancy Gupton for National Geographic News in April 2003

Presidents Letter
August 19th, 2007
Dear Nobles,
Today I put pen to paper as my clothes dry from being caught in the rain on a road trip back home from Madison, Wisconsin, where the Midwest Shrine Motor Corps Association had their yearly competition. My thanks to Dale Holmen, President 2006-2007, and his officers for the honor of the invitation, and the privilege of installing the 2007-2008 officers. The men and ladies of their association remain great and cherished friends.
This was my seventh trip of the year around the country seeking to build camaraderie, organize, assist and learn from your associations. Yet, I am humbled and amazed by the efforts of my fellow line officers, Medd, Woody, Jim, David, Rick, John and Jack who have undertaken similar pilgrimages and more with their ladies. What a great International line. You are an inspiration.
Our Association now has some information to disseminate to the nobility.
First, our new Secretary/Treasurer, John Anderson, is establishing our new web sites with links to the secretaries of each regional association. We intend to keep you up to speed with each other and this Association in a timely fashion. Jack Knight, Past Secretary/Treasurer is our Historian and will provide vignettes from time to time. The web sites are www.iasmc.net , www.iasmc.org ., and www.iasmc.com.
Second, our mid-winter meeting for 2008, (April 10-13), is in Addison, IL, ( a suburb of Chicago). The Hilton Garden Inn is directly across from the Medinah Shrine Center. Rooms are $89.00 per night with free parking for any size vehicle. Call 630-691-8221 for reservations to have fun with us. Also, log on to our websites for our planned itinerary.
Third, The Imperial Council Session is back in the middle of the country, St. Louis, Missouri, from June 29- July 3, 2008. Our Association has selected the Sheraton West Port Hotel as our headquarters. Their phone number is 314-878-1500 for reservations. The rooms are reasonable, and the hotel has parking and hook-up access for semi's and RV's, and is close to Moolah Shrine Center where our awards banquet will be held.
Fourth, the Imperial Council is planning a bike run on the 29th of June, in town and along the Mississippi River. Log on to their website, www.imperial2008.com for information.
Fifth, we hope to have a show car competition (depending on the availability of space). This will follow the Rules and Regulations of the Central States Show Car Competition. Log on to www.csasmc.org for rules.
Finally, my thanks to Ardys, Bill, Curly, Jack, Jerry, Joe, Lindsay, Melvin, Robert, and Virgil for SHOWING me what the word NOBLE means.

IASMC Minutes Anaheim, CA
July 1, 2007
The annual meeting of the International Association of Shrine Motor Corps was called to order by President Clarence H. “Curly” Byler at 2:00 pm. at the Anaheim Marriot Suites, Anaheim, CA. President “Curly” Byler opened the meeting by asking Past President Ardys Bennett to give the invocation. After the prayer, President “Curly” Byler asked for the Shrine pledge of allegiance to our flag led by Second Vice President Henry E. “Woody” Woodward. President “Curly” Byler requested the Black Camel report from Past President Ardys Bennett. A prayer was given for the brothers that have passed away since the last meeting. President “Curly” Byler requested Past President Ardys Bennett to accept the duties of Parliamentarian for the meeting. President “Curly” Byler then asked for the Sergeant at Arms report and the introduction of Officers. The Sergeant at Arms, David Vaughn, reported that are seven officers, four past presidents, and fourteen temples present for a total of 25 votes. The line officers then introduced themselves to the attendees. President “Curly” Byler asked the past potentates to rise and introduce themselves and then requested any other divan members to introduce themselves. All past potentates and divan members were acknowledged. President “Curly” Byler asked that the Police Officers judging for us tomorrow please rise and introduce themselves. They were from the Garden Grove police department. President “Curly” Byler asked for the reading of the minutes. Past President Ardys Bennett moved that the reading of the minutes be waived as they are published in the CAKRAS. The motion was seconded and passed by a voice vote. The treasurer’s report was presented by Secretary/Treasurer Jack T. Knight. He stated that the association was fiscally sound. Past President Ardys Bennett added that the audit committee had gone over the books this morning and found them to be in proper order. He then moved that the Treasurer’s report be accepted as read. The motion was seconded and passed by a voice vote of the members present.
Old Business: Past President Ardys Bennett presented for a second reading the motion he presented in Virginia Beach, April 13, 2007, to amend the Bylaws section 2A concerning the Secretary/Treasurer, to add “After serving for at least three (3) years, he will become an active life member, a member of the executive committee, and his dues waived as long as he is in good standing with his Temple.” The motion was seconded, President “Curly” Byler called for a voice vote, and the motion to amend was passed without opposition. The president then called for comments from the officers, who then spoke on the participation, the Angels’ competition field, our new IASMC trailer and its plaque, including our planning for the next competition. President Elect Bruce “BJ” James announced that the Mid-Winter 2008 would be held in Chicago, IL area April 10th – 13th.2008. First Vice President Medd Box gave details about our awards banquet and its location. Second Vice President, Henry E. “Woody” Woodward asked if anyone did not receive their CAKRAS. A comment from the floor addressed the environment for improving participation in competition. The discussion involved travel distances, costs, desires of teams to compete, and that age of equipment does not enter into the formula for scoring. The discussion encouraged an atmosphere of inclusion of all temples and equipment.
President “Curly” Byler stated that in the California area, motorized units only want to participate in parades. They do not desire to compete. First Vice President Medd Box talked about the IASMC supporting the Pacific Northwest Shrine Association (PNSA) in Cheyenne, WY. This encouraged competitive spirit and the development of a motor corps association within the PNSA. He also talked about the positive effect of the Shrine Savers program to help move equipment to the Imperial Sessions, when they are not held close to your area. Second Vice President “Woody” Woodward commented on the positive effect of the associations cooperating with each other to enhance and encourage participation in each others activities. President “Curly” Byler asked if there were any other members that would like to speak at this time. There were none and he then called for new business.
New Business: Past President Ardys Bennett moved that the present officers be elevated to the next position, with the Secretary/Treasurer and Sgt at Arms voted on separately. The motion was seconded and passed by a voice vote. President “Curly” Byler asked for any other nominations for Sgt at Arms, there being none, Noble Rick Landers who was previously nominated at the mid winter in VA Beach, was introduced. A motion was made by Past President Ardys Bennett that the nominations be closed and Noble Landers be elected by acclimation.
The motion was seconded and passed by a voice vote. Assistant Secretary/Treasurer John Anderson, was nominated at the mid winter also and was asked to speak. President “Curly” Byler asked if there were any other nominations, there being none, a motion was made to close the nominations and call for the vote. The vote was taken and Noble John E. Anderson was elected as Secretary/Treasurer to the association for a period of three years.
The duly elected officers of the IASMC for the 2007-2008 year to be installed at the banquet are:
President Bruce "BJ" James (Medinah)

Past President Ardys Bennett commented on the outstanding service given to the association by both the outgoing secretary and president. President “Curly” Byler asked Secretary/Treasurer Jack Knight to stand and he received an extended standing ovation from the membership. President “Curly” Byler asked for any other business for the good of the order. There being none, a motion was made and seconded to adjourn, a vote taken and the meeting was adjourned by President “Curly” Byler after a closing prayer given by Past President Ardys Bennett.

10. Following Corps inspection, no equipment shall be removed. Contestants must wear a DOT approved motorcycle helmet on the Obstacle Course Field, whether a 2, 3, or 4 wheeled rider.
INSTRUCTION TO THE JUDGES
It is not the intention of the IASMC to tell the judges how to appraise each unit for the scores they think it is entitled to or has lost because of something they see. We believe that a unit should not be discounted because of minor chips in paint or bluing of exhaust pipes, so long as they are polished and neat. This could happen to a motor just coming to the drill field.
If it is their desire to award the unit all points it is allowed, then they will leave the space blank. However, if they wish to discount a unit points, they will put down only the amount they want to penalize the unit for each part on the score sheet.
A penalty of 1/10 of a point per violation will be given on inspection. Deducting points for each mistake made on the field as per the score sheets will score riding competition. Five judges will be used. The high and low scores of these judges will be discarded. The remaining three will be averaged and deducted from 100. This is the score for the participant. It is not the desire of IASMC to interfere with the nomenclature or types of maneuvers that a unit performs. The number of maneuvers (other than required) is counted as an objective count of variety. The highest number of optional maneuvers performed in each classification is used as the denominator for each other unit in the classification and that number multiplied by ten (10) determines the Score for Variety. The Chief Scorer will perform that function.
