WE RIDE FOR THE BENEFIT OF CHILDREN

 Presidents Letter

NOBLES ALL

After a HOT San Antonio we are looking for cooler places, like Kansas City in April and Toronto in July. I am proud to be elected your President and pledge to do my best to make this a fun year and leave the association in as good or better shape in Toronto.

By the time you get this I'll have made visits to TSMPA fall obstacle competition in Midland TX, Mid-West competition in Rochester MN, Central States competition in Colorado Springs CO, Great Lake Association competition in Merriville IN, and guest speak to a 200 member club in Toronto, who have not competed in the past, only participated in parades.

My mission is to show them some DVD of other competition and give them some diagrams of how to get started, Mark Smith who is one of the nobles (motorcycle rider) I am working with to get competition fields is a member of this club, and he says they have groups of two wheel and multi wheel units within the club.

During my travels I have talked to two nobles who are interested in running for the IASMC line.

Our competition is the best opportunity to show those who attend, what a great association we are, through working together, having good competition, excellent equipment, great fellowship and capped off with a grand awards banquet.

IASMC line officers are the greatest, they work together for the benefit of all members and willing to do what ever it takes to make everything work. The line officers have been visiting other association through out the country. We welcome any comments and /or recommendation that would make IASMC an organization that everyone would want to be a member of.

Yours in the Faith

       Woody

Henry E "Woody Woodward

President IASMC

1.   Course to be run on time.

2.   A team shall consist of at least two (2) riders/drivers from the same unit.  Any number of riders/drivers from the same unit may compete.  The total team score shall be computed by adding together the two- (2) lowest individual total time scores posted by each rider/driver from the same unit.  No rider/driver shall be allowed to compete with more than two- (2) weight classifications within his Temple.

3.   The same vehicle cannot be ridden by more than one rider that are contestants.  There must be two riders and two vehicles, and they are the same two vehicles used in the drill competition.

5.   There will be no penalty if a foot touches the ground.

6.   One second will be added for each cone or pylon that is moved or knocked over and has to be replaced by the judge on the field.

10. Following Corps inspection, no equipment shall be removed.  Contestants must wear a DOT approved motorcycle helmet on the Obstacle Course Field, whether a 2, 3, or 4 wheeled rider.

INSTRUCTION TO THE JUDGES

It is not the intention of the IASMC to tell the judges how to appraise each unit for the scores they think it is entitled to or has lost because of something they see.  We believe that a unit should not be discounted because of minor chips in paint or bluing of exhaust pipes, so long as they are polished and neat.  This could happen to a motor just coming to the drill field.

If it is their desire to award the unit all points it is allowed, then they will leave the space blank.  However, if they wish to discount a unit points, they will put down only the amount they want to penalize the unit for each part on the score sheet.

A penalty of 1/10 of a point per violation will be given on inspection.  Deducting points for each mistake made on the field as per the score sheets will score riding competition.  Five judges will be used.  The high and low scores of these judges will be discarded.  The remaining three will be averaged and deducted from 100.  This is the score for the participant. It is not the desire of IASMC to interfere with the nomenclature or types of maneuvers that a unit performs.  The number of maneuvers (other than required) is counted as an objective count of variety.   The highest number of optional maneuvers performed in each classification is used as the denominator for each other unit in the classification and that number multiplied by ten (10) determines the Score for Variety.  The Chief Scorer will perform that function.
